Jules Hunter’s Story

Hear Jules describe the great care she received with her c-sections at both Memorial Hospital Belleville and Memorial Hospital Shiloh.

Jules’ Family

Jules is married, and her husband’s name is Jason. She has a 13-year-old daughter named Rayna, a three-year-old son named Calvin, and an eight-month-old son named Harrison. She teaches English at Belleville West High School and is from the Belleville area. She currently lives in Edwardsville but is a die-hard Belleville fan.

First Delivery at Memorial Hospital Belleville

She was induced with Calvin. She didn’t know anything about being induced, but the nurses did a nice job of educating her. Calvin ended up with heart problems, and he got stuck. So, around 3 the next morning her doctor said Calvin would need to be delivered by c-section. She was really scared and started to panic a little, but the nurses relaxed her. She said she really doesn’t think there are better nurses anywhere around than in labor and delivery at Memorial. They took her into the c-section room and walked her through everything, so she didn’t have to worry. She could just focus on the baby and getting him out safely. Jules also always wanted skin-to-skin contact after delivery, and as soon as they told her she had to have a c-section, she was concerned that wouldn’t happen. The nurse made it happen though. They just took the baby, and they placed him on her chest. She said she would have been really sad to miss that.

Second Delivery at Memorial Hospital Shiloh

Jules decided to go to Memorial Hospital Shiloh because her family lives by the hospital, and she had such a good experience at Memorial Hospital Belleville. She met with the anesthesiologist the week before and was really nervous about the anesthesia. He really took time to listen to her concerns. The nurses were comforting, patient, and answered her questions. Everything went really smoothly. Jules thinks the nurses at Memorial are the best nurses around. She said it didn’t feel like she was staying in a hospital. It felt like she was at a second home for a little bit bringing her baby into the world.

Communication at Memorial’s Family Care Birthing Centers

With Harrison, Jules was really impressed because whenever a nurse would go off duty and a new one came in, they would have a meeting in her room. They made her involved in her own care, which she really liked.

Recommend Memorial

Jules thinks there isn’t a better hospital than those at Memorial. She doesn’t think you can find better nurses, doctors, or staff anywhere else. She said everyone at Memorial is organized and knowledgeable, and they treat you like family. Jules wouldn’t go anywhere else, and she tries to convince everybody to go to Memorial.
